Generations of Joy is a club that I made in the junior year of my school, where we would go out to senior centers and spend time with them by doing activities like oragami and board games. . People are split by generations, and we never really see that connection between older and younger generations. This leads to loneliness, which is something that is really not good for humans. My club, Generations of Joy, plans to bridge the gap between these generations, and encourage people to go out to these senior centers. We go out every month, and just spend 1 hr, which is plenty of time to engage with and have fun with the seniors. Seeing the look of joy on their faces makes the endeavor even more rewarding. Another part of this club is learning about the senior centers itself. We live in a time that is much different than 50 years ago, and learning about these seniors' stories makes it very entertaining. Learning about what they went through is very interesting, and we heard many stories of what their time was like. It helps even more with connecting with them. Seniors want someone to talk to, and talking with younger generations can help spread their stories. Just going out and spending time with them can help to bridge this gap of generations and learn so much more about other people.
